They are notes that stem from an idea, an intuition, or a question, and follow it wherever it is capable of taking us. They do not need to prove a thesis or reach a closed conclusion. They can be philosophical, cultural, personal, or speculative.

Its function is to open up territory: to formulate a hypothesis, test it, relate it to other ideas, and allow new questions to emerge. They are thought in motion.
