Arrivals.

Every observation begins long before it is written. It begins when an intuition ceases to be an opinion and becomes a hypothesis worthy of being observed.

Knowledge does not arise from answers, but from the questions we are willing to investigate with sufficient rigor. Before we interact with an interface, before we draw an observation, and long before a Note exists, there is a moment when we decide to make that hypothesis public.

Arrival

That moment is called Arrival. It does not exist to confirm an idea. It exists to make it observable. Publish a hypothesis before knowing its answer and let coexistence, rather than expectation, determine whether that intuition deserved to become knowledge. Because a first impression can describe an interface. Only time can reveal what truly changes when that interface enters a life.

Pipeline

The following Arrivals represent currently open hypotheses. Each aims to investigate and coexist with a different interface. All of them observe the same question: how design modifies human capacity when it enters a life.

_

A.001 — Varier:

Interface:
Silla

Capacity:
Movement · Posture · Fatigue

Hypothesis:
Can a seating interface negotiate with the body instead of imposing a posture on it?

_

A.002 — Pedestal:

Interface:
Home system

Capacity:
Autonomy · Flexibility

Hypothesis:
Can mobility restore autonomy to the home?

_

A.003 — Teenage Engineering:

Interface:
Touch game

Capacity:
Play · Manipulate · Hand intelligence

Hypothesis:
What happens to our intelligence when an interface asks the hands for something more than tapping, swiping, and clicking?

_

A.004 — PLAUD:

Interface:
Assisted memory

Capacity:
Pay Attention · Be Present

Hypothesis:
What does a person no longer have to do when PLAUD is present?

_

A.005 — reMarkable:

Interface:
Cognitive protection

Capacity:
Focus · Sustain a thought

Hypothesis:
What does a person stop interrupting when reMarkable is present?

_

A.006 — HOKA Ora Primo:

Interface:
Extreme cushioning

Capacity:
Walk · Explore · Continue

Hypothesis:
What happens to the life a person dares to travel when every step no longer demands the same amount of impact from the body?

_

A.007 — Nychair X:

Interface:
Portable rest

Capacity:
Rest · Stop · Inhabit

Hypothesis:
What happens to our ability to inhabit the world when rest is no longer tied to a place and we can carry the possibility of stopping with us?

_

A.008 — Patagonia:

Interface:
Body ready

Capacity:
Move · Carry · Adapt

Hypothesis:
What happens to our ability to move through the world when clothing stops being something we have to endure and starts taking on some of the work of protecting us, regulating us, and carrying what we need?

_

A.009 — Snow Peak:

Interface:
Furniture as mobile infrastructure

Capacity:
Move · Adapt · Inhabit with autonomy

Hypothesis:
What happens to our autonomy when furniture stops belonging to a fixed place and becomes a mobile infrastructure that allows us to inhabit wherever we decide to be?
